The work …

I’ll be posting my thoughts re: filming Intimacy on screen here.

But let’s start with a quick introduction, I’m Jessie (she/her) … a certified Intimacy Coordinator for Film & TV. I trained under Amanda Blumenthal with the SAG-AFTRA accredited Intimacy Professionals Association (IPA). I’ve also done extensive training with Intimacy Directors and Coordinators (IDC).

I encourage a safe & collaborative space on set, where actors and directors can thrive creatively during intimate scenes. My unique set of skills, enable effective negotiation between actors, directors, production and crew, always with sensitivity, understanding and humour. With a comprehensive understanding of production dynamics and qualification in MHFA (Mental Health First Aid) I’ve honed my ability to work effectively in both high stress and time sensitive filming environments.

With over fifteen years experience in the industry as a Costume Designer, working on productions for HBO Max, Amazon Prime, BBC, Apple TV, Channel 4, Sky and more. I’ve got a wealth of experience as an HOD, collaborating with actors, directors and crew - which informs my approach to IC work.

I also have a background in movement and performance - with specific IPA training in choreography for intimate scenes as well as training in movement direction and choreology with experts Viola Bruni and Olga Masleinnkova. As well as performing as a Drag King I also have many years of experience in stand-up comedy/storytelling, as well as training in clowning and improvisation.

I’ve lectured and given talks at Bournemouth University, The Watersprite film festival and for Film London’s Equal access network.  As a mixed race, queer individual she is keenly aware of the importance of diversity and inclusion (of all kinds) within the industry. I’m currently a member of BECTU’s TV Drama Diversity working group and the Intimacy Coordinator branch committee.

I’ve obtained specialised training in a number of areas, such as:

  • Consent, Boundaries, and Power Dynamics

  • Intimacy Coordination Protocols

  • Communication and Conflict Negotiation Skills

  • SAG-AFTRA, EQUITY and ACTRA Nudity Guidelines

  • Closed Set Protocols
